Tour Party.

As always, Pete picked up the mini-bus and rounded up the tour party. We drove through the gloom towards Old Trafford where we stayed in the lodge. The journey was embellished with a quiz called “guess the Kid” when several of the team failed to recognise the handsome child that was Skip!

We arrived at Old Trafford in time to see one of the only two overs bowled on Saturday and spent the rest of the day watching the rain from the bar! Watching the covers proved to be a poor spectator sport. The match v Ribchester was cancelled at noon on Saturday due to a flooded outfield so the pace of life at the bar increased until we were ready to go for the team curry in the Sangam restaurant, Rusholme. A variety of transport was utilised including taxis, trams and the “Magic Bus”! Paj managed to refrain from knocking his beer over as Jack had a steak and Ian some chips. We returned to the Lodge where Martin did an impression of a Dalek with a litter bin! Pete made Skip watch Carrie 2 on TV, which resulted in a row as to who slept next to the window!

Despite a gloomy start we managed to watch an entertaining full day’s play with Evs & Paj sneaking some Fosters lager into the members enclosure (no Bambi on ice from Evs this year). Brian (27 overs 2mdns, 7 for 142), Matt & Ian decided to have a go in the indoor nets- no further takers. Steve and Paul drew the short straws and roomed with Martin and Brian respectively but survived.

Overall it proved to be a most enjoyable tour, despite not playing and we look forward to next year (without the rain).
