Once again the team assembled to brave the gloom towards Old Trafford to watch Lancashire v Kent. A variety of injuries surfaced (Steve fell down the stairs), (Evs broken finger- etc). These turned out to be totally fictitious to test the resolve of the skipper, who was genuinely injured (again)! We arrived at Old Trafford, parked up, headed for the bar & took up residence in the member’s stand. We enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon watching other people chasing the ball, despite loosing Gordon but he did phone us and waved from the other side of the ground. Brian tried to get Kent’s Andrew Hall’s jumper which had “Hall 99” on the back.

Once again our venue for the team curry was the Sangram where the scene was reminiscent of the chimps tea-party. Jack seemed disappointed that the transvestites from the last year did not put in an appearance! The journey back was somewhat marred by the fact that 60% of the team failed to get off the tram at Old Trafford and had to get off at the next stop & wait for the return unit. This was of course Skip’s fault.

We phoned Jonathon Kenyon (captain of Chipping C.C.) who told us that the ground was flooded but we decided to sample the delights of the Sun Inn in Chipping anyway. Paj, Gordon & Steve found a game called ringing the bull but Evs found a dartboard with no trebles! An inspection of the Chipping Oval ensued and confirmed that it was like a paddy field. Our thanks must go to Pete for driving around Lancashire with a bus full of thirsty cricketers. Once again Paul was fined for drinking half pints!
Eifion kept us entertained on the journey home with renditions of “Calon Lan” and a rather interesting ditty about a woman with a pointed head! Despite not playing a good time was had by all and there’s always next year!
